Now they have started the tapping up row with banning Chelsea from purchasing players in the next two transfer window. This new saga will end in the courts as it restricts trade. Chelsea players will now not be able to leave, It will make interesting reading. Whatever next.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8039788627600282262.post-88910020068780061262009-09-01T09:36:47.057-07:002009-09-01T09:36:47.057-07:00Brilliant blog again. Read more’re saying and Wengers claim that Eduardo went down because he feared another leg breaking tackle was almost laughable had it not brought back memories of that horrific incident against Birmingham. We should give Wenger credit though....at least he saw it. From a United fans point of view I find it hard to believe some Arsenal fans are comparing Eduardos dive to Rooneys penalty. Admittedly yes, maybe Rooney was anticipating the challenge, however the fundamental difference is Rooney was clattered by Almunia whereas Boric wasn't even in the same postcode as Eduardo. To ban players for 6 games after the incident using video technology is desirable to eradicate this form of cheating however it would be hard to implement.
I think teams just have to accept the rough with the smooth. Take for instance last year, during Uniteds 5-2 victory over Spurs, the comeback started when Ronaldo arguably dived to win a penalty and thus brought United back into the game at 2-1. Many Spurs fans felt that if the referee had seen this as a dive they may have held on to win. However a lot of people forget that less than a week earlier, United were denied a clear cut penalty when Welbeck was brought down against Everton, leading to Uniteds exit from the F.A Cup.
I agree that UEFA should try to... Read more rid football of divers but I understand how difficult this will be and believe all football fans should accept that sometimes you get the refs decision and sometimes you don't. That gives football an extra special buzz and it is that controversy that fills conversations in pubs and workplaces for an entire week before the next lot of games take place.Josh Powellnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8039788627600282262.post-1922084805163812802009-09-01T09:28:08.210-07:002009-09-01T09:28:08.210-07:00Fully justified in your comments Mr Caw, however I...Fully justified in your comments Mr Caw, however I think you've fallen into the same trap as everyone else here; Why single out Eduardo? Why now?

It astounds me that it has essentially taken an entire nation's Football Association to force an action out of UEFA.

At the start of the season UEFA/FIFA should have issued a statement; any dive gets a ban/fine. Simple, then there'd be no discussion.

But as usual, theyve made a real mess of it. In giving Eduardo a two-game ban theyve made a rod for their backs, and the second Ronaldo/Drogba/Rooney/anyone takes a dive, if the same action isn't taken (and I assure you, it won't be) then Mr Wenger has every right to kick and scream until he gets attention.Odognoreply@blogger.com
